@tomhfh Very little has changed. It’s the same team that has failed for two years with a different leader. That seems like an odd choice, especially as it was plainly a collective failure.

It’s genuinely hard to be as invested in this change of government as I was in the last five changes of government. It all seems so much less… consequential.

How can we hope he has a serious plan for ending "the terrible suffering of people in Gaza" when he can't even bring himself to name Israel as the genocidal aggressor causing the suffering? We need concrete action:a full arms embargo & an end to trade with illegal settlements.

@peter_sarris Completely agree. And some benefits, such as child benefit, should be universal so higher rate taxpayers feel bound into the state. It’s actually a classic left wing position.

I actually think anyone who receives an income should be taxed on it - even just a minimal sum. Taking people out of taxation encourages a mindset of just taking and not contributing.
Laurie Macfarlane@L__Macfarlane

Unpopular opinion: at a time when maintaining a functional state will definitely require more tax revenue, continually taking more people out of tax altogether is not a good idea The reality is most people will need to pay a bit more tax, even if some should pay more than others

Hard to think of a more politically effective resignation than John Healey's.

A brown Muslim woman to beat up on immigrants as Home Secretary, a Jew to front up mealy-mouthed criticism of Israel as Foreign Secretary, and Rachel Reeves in drag as Chancellor. This is why I keep saying Labour are an OBSTACLE to progressive change.

@meadwaj “Sorry disabalists, we think you can wallow in your own excrement for a few days each week. Meanwhile, we will inscribe your name on these bombs! “And higher rate taxpayers: don’t fear, you’ll get to personalise a bomb message for the kids of Gaza!”

@owenjonesjourno This country is crying out for more bombs. Personally, I think taxpayers should have their names inscribed on each bomb. And higher rate taxpayers should get to write a personalised message. It’s who we are as a people.

Appointing John Healey as Chancellor is a big red flag. There's no evidence he supports any sort of transformative economic agenda. He does support hiking diverting money from the NHS, education and frontline services in favour of bombs, though!

John Healey is chancellor. So we're meant to believe that the politician who demanded billions more for war is going to dismantle 40 years of neoliberalism?

No Rachel, you are not leaving the UK economy stronger, healthier. No Keir, you are not leaving Britain in a better state than you found it. There is a reason you were booted out by your own party: Together, you did enormous harm to Britain's social fabric & ethos. @JennyChapman You’re one of the worst people in British politics who is only there through patronage. All you have done is harm others around the world by slashing vital aid. You’re an absolute disgrace. Good riddance to you. Now you can return to your cucked husband.

I will always be proud to have played a part in Keir Starmer’s journey to Number Ten. In Government, it’s been a great honour to serve as International Development Minister, and in Keir Starmer’s Cabinet. I’m disappointed to be leaving but wish the Prime Minister and his new team every success. Cutting the aid budget has been challenging and has required much soul searching, but I passionately believe thanks to the work we’ve done, we’re spending the money better than ever before. We have a modern strategy and approach, working in partnership with developing countries rather than in a paternalistic way, and keeping strong commitments on global health and humanitarian aid. Thank you to all the brilliant people I’ve worked with in the UK and overseas. Thanks to them and to Keir Starmer the U.K. is once again a force for good internationally.

@SethDillon Shapiro and Levin are part of the Epstein paedophile class precisely because they were happy to deflect and excuse it in order to defend Israel. They didn’t condemn Mossad or the former Israel PM for running the Epstein operation. So it makes sense to include them within it.

It means “Jews" or "Zionists," depending on who they want to smear. The phrase is worded to give the impression that they’re distinguishing between good and bad people based on behavior, but the real distinction they're making is based on identity and attitudes toward Israel.
Joel Berry@JoelWBerry

What does the phrase "Epstein Pedophile Class" even mean when Hunter Biden and Andrew Tate - actual underage sex traffickers - don't qualify for membership, but Mark Levin and Ben Shapiro do?
