This photo of me is not even about me, its about this lifeforce that I am tapping into that is just shooting through and out and everywhere.” - Mieke Why can’t an expectant woman be both nurturing and sexual, vulnerable and powerful, or powerful in her vulnerability, (thanks @BreneBrown) Pregnancy is the female form at its most powerful, the purest form of lifeforce energy. Mieke embodies this duality expressed as an awakening through the Liz Bretz lens that redefines what it means to be a woman with child. This piece has an intoxicatingly eroticism, liberating from the binary, male gaze and into the divine feminine, enabling the spectrum that love can be all these emotions– sexual, passionate, intimate, carnal, erotic. With leads me to @EstherPerel... The importance of the erotic in this piece speaks to the poignant voice of Ester Perel, redefining the erotic as a core to lifeforce energy. Perel describes that “Eroticism is not sex per se, but the qualities of vitality, curiosity, and spontaneity that make us feel alive.” Artists statement: In our attempt for collective self-betterment is the desire to achieve a more equitable space. We look to a future where a femme's position isn't defined by patriarchal hierarchies, but instead expressed through feminine enlightenment and symbiotic connection. This enlightenment, illustrated by the flare around the third eye, releases the confines and expectations of what it is to be a woman, femme, mother, nurturer. This light, which expands into retro digital space, is framed by neon acrylic claws and deep shadows to form an image of integration. Past with future. Dark and wild with self-actualized. As we progressively move toward a Protopian Future, it is the middle path, inclusive of all illusory polarities, that we must walk—or else remain forever divided. #protopia #protopianfutures #protopian
