The EMEC

Regretfully we have made the decision to cancel this years #theEMEC. Given the current situation it is the sensible option. Anyone who has bought a ticket will be refunded in full. And we will return in 2021. Any q’s or problems let us know via twitter. Pls share.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the experience ‘junior’ clinicians get working the ED. Specifically equity of allocations to areas like resus. @carrings and I have cooked up an idea but I’m curious how other departments ensure everyone gets fair exposure (if indeed anyone does).

I’ve been thinking about EMEC 2022. I want to do a face to face event but without presentations. Instead sharing experiences from last 2 years and community building. Oh and EDUWARS. What are your thoughts?

Want to run EMEC 2022 but trying to find inspiration. Would you like a day of sharing MedEd & pastoral successes during COVID or are there now problems that you would like help addressing such as moral injury etc?

@Damian_Roland If I could rephrase the question then. “Here’s what other people have achieved over the last 2 years” or “Here are some solutions to problems you are currently having”. Which would be preferred?

@the_emec I think the critical thing is the shared solutions or the shared passion (the latter being the thing I took most from EMEC) I think focusing on what you can achieve or what you can do (rather than what the problems are) would be important to me as a potential attendee.

@Damian_Roland Equally love that you included the tagline for The EMEC of “inspiration for education”. Intentional or otherwise, hats off to you.

@the_emec I get you can’t pretend like nothing has happened but if I’m honest Scott I think I’d like to go to an event that isn’t another reminder of the challenges we all face daily…. Could the theme be: "Education to inspire!” #justathought

@Damian_Roland We could definitely do an uplifting and inspirational “check out all the amazing things we’ve achieved” day or are there now new/exacerbated problems that the collective EMEC community wisdom can help with?

@Damian_Roland You’re right. I’ve run around in circles with this question for for the last 2 months so needed lots more brains on it. I know that my past and current experience may have been different and we may all be in a different place now so how can we do the most good with a conference?

Trying to decide on which snacks to buy for #rcemasc… this conferencing from home is challenging! Or it’s a comment on decision fatigue in EM.
