I was walking across the street to the post office the other day and a woman rolled down her window and told me that she loved my coat, that she doesn’t see them too much anymore but that she loved it. I, of course, told her thank you and went on my way into the post office. I was wearing this vintage Saks balmacaan, and she was right, you don’t see these too much anymore. These days it’s puffer jackets and sleek stuff. It’s hard to find a real bonafide roomy, flowing, glorious balmacaan like this one. It’s incredible how powerful they are and how much they stand out today in a world without them. They are a reminder - “Oh yeah, those! I remember those!” Our clothes can be beautiful, even when it’s freezing.
