I remember waiting at a train station and having a ring of men surround us just staring. We had families sit by us for photos on the beach in Goa. 😅

@valdvonn17Q @esa_was_taken @TheProjectUnity Yep, I was in varanasi in 2000, burning ghats down the river. They said you need to supply your own wood as there's not much around. Poorer people can't afford as much so occasionally bodies aren't fully burnt and end up in the river, as the ashes do.

@winstonpeters Hey, it already is means tested if you get income from a UK pension fund the amount is deducted from the NZ super. But if you get the same amount from any other investments there's no deduction. Why are some penalised & not all?

Chris Hipkins has said that Labour is willing to means test superannuation that would affect hundreds of thousands of kiwi seniors - just like they did in the 1980s. ‘Means testing’ is another way of saying the government will be able to refuse to give you your retirement super income if they decide you don’t deserve it. As the saying goes, when the going gets tough they always go after the young and the old first. Our Kiwi Super is not a benefit, it is a long standing Kiwi entitlement. Kiwis who are 65 or above have worked 30,40, sometimes 50 years paying taxes and building this country. We have an obligation as a government to look after our seniors in their retirement and protect their super. We demanded in our coalition agreement that super won’t be touched - this will never change while NZFirst has a say. NZFirst is the only party that will never allow the hard-fought Kiwi super to be hacked away from our seniors for any short term gain - the rest want to attack it and take it away.

What if we moved the age of super up to 67 but put the money that a person wouldve got from the ages of 65-67 into their kiwisaver instead? That was they still get it but just have to work another 2 tax paying years first. Something has to be done as its currently not fair on the young people funding it with their taxes.
