NASCAR says Cleetus McFarland has not been approved to run the Talladega O’Reilly race in a few weeks. He is still approved for short track races in that series but they want to see him run more first before going to bigger tracks. NASCAR’s John Probst via the sanctioning body’s “Hauler Talk” podcast: “We're all huge Cleetus fans. We all watch his videos and are certainly very appreciative of everything he's done in our sport and will continue to do in our sport. He is approved right now for O'Reilly Series short tracks, which means he's good for all of ARCA, all of Truck, and then O'Reilly up through the short tracks. We'd like to see more out of Cleetus in the short tracks. So we're not saying no, but there is more that we would like to see out of Cleetus before we would approve him for Talladega.”

@nascar_opinion 6 guys with boat loads of experience over Cleetus finished behind him...... should we shit on them, and tell them they don't belong in NOAPS as well??? Enough of this shit already! Cleetus was cleared by nascar to race, deal with it.

People don't "hate" Cleetus. But he's been rushed up to the 2nd highest level of stock car racing in just over a year. He's great for the sport, bad for the approval process/standards. We've got guys that have raced for years who don't get those opportunities.

@PPistone @KevinFowlerJr @DaleJr I say give him a chance to prove himself. If it doesn’t work out then it doesn’t work out. I was initially on the side of he’s not ready or qualified, but there are drivers currently in the NOAPS that are doing the same thing everyone thinks he is going to do.

To me @DaleJr so far has been the only one that has actually provided some real insight to the Cleetus situation. Everybody just sees that he’s approved and gets all up in arms, but Dale talked about how just by signing this deal with RCR, he’s going to be able to get in the SIM and learn way more than he would driving a full Arca season. To me, it’s not about just him running an O’Reilly series race. It’s about him being self-aware that he needs to improve and finding ways to do so. During that conversation, he said that they were able to overlay his SIM with Jesse Love’s SIM and he could see the difference in what Jesse was doing and make adjustments and immediately he shaved two tenths off his lap time. It’s not gonna happen right away, but if his goal is to improve as a race car driver in NASCAR, the only way he is going to do that is to keep learning. He also said he’s purchasing a late model stock car so that he can get laps in at his own track because he understands that he doesn’t have enough seat time to learn the race craft like he needs to. @TheMikeBagley @PPistone #TMDNASCAR

Listen, I wasn't a Charlie Kirk guy. I agreed with some of his ideas, disagreed with others. It doesn't matter. He wasn't harming people. He didn't deserve to die. He has the right to say & think what he wants.
