On a related note--something intriguing I learned recently is that, at the turn of the 20th century, Nawabate libraries in Hyderabad and Rampur held the largest collections of Arabic manuscripts in the Islamic world after Cairo, exceeding even their Persian and Urdu holdings.

Amid renewed interest in historical ties between Iran and South Asia, I've written about the lost world of what Shahab Ahmed called the "Balkans-to-Bengal complex". Its rich cultural legacy has largely been forgotten: middleeasteye.net/discover/balka…

Have you read literature laureate Rabindranath Tagore's 'Gitanjali'?
'Gitanjali' from 1910 is one of Tagore's most famous literary works. His poetry is felt to convey the peace of the soul in harmony with nature.

26 years ago tonight, after Rehras Sahib in Chittisinghpora village in Kashmir, 35 Sikhs were killed. No one knew for hours until villagers walked miles to report it. Never forget.
Sharing my book pages where it is documented.
