The hard part of tracking finances is friction. If logging an expense takes more than 5 seconds, you stop doing it. So I built a bot that listens on WhatsApp. Me and my wife send a message/screenshot and it writes a ledger entry. LLM models like Gemini Flash parses the intent, categorizes it, and appends a valid double-entry transaction to my .ledger file. The file lives on my server.

Built a native macOS viewer for ledger plain-text accounting file format. Most expense tracking apps are built around lock-in. Proprietary formats, mandatory accounts, servers you don't control. When their VC funding dries up, they shut down or pivot, and you start over. Plain-text accounting takes the opposite approach: your finances live in a .ledger file. Open it in vim. Query it with awk. Put it in git and get a full audit trail of every change you've ever made. It's just a plain text file. Ledge is just a lens over that file. Fast, native, no cloud. @zcrux3 @zerodha i dont think the broker would share account info via login unless one is sebi registered advisor/analyst. I guess, not sure though. has a compliance angle to it

Always build reversible systems. When you make an architectural decision that's hard to undo, you're essentially betting that you got it right. All it takes is one edge case, one wrong state, one user misconfiguration, one incorrect assumption, and your system crumbles. Hence, it's always better to build a reversible system. The core idea is to roll out systems and features that can be reversed (disabled) easily. Rollout confidence is often proportional to how easy it is to revert the change. Some ways to achieve this are: - Loose coupling between components - Feature flags for gradual rollouts - Database migrations that can roll back - Phased rollouts and deployments - Define clear interfaces that hide implementation details Bake this principle into your design process and decision-making framework. Most decisions you make should favor reversible systems, allowing you to move faster. With this, you stop being afraid of being wrong.

@rishija19859 @fyers1 you can basically automate your simple to complex strategies here without worrying about their executions. You can do simple things for eg, on SIP date, check if market is up or down, then only initiate stock SIP, to more complex things like, run multi-leg options strategies
