🚨NEWS: UK iPhone users must now prove their age or lose full internet access
"It is absolutely outrageous that, overnight, Apple has put a chokehold on Britons' freedom to search the internet, access information and use apps unless they provide sensitive ID documents.
This means 35 million Brits who have paid hundreds or even thousands of pounds for Apple tech suddenly now have a child's device unless they comply with invasive demands for personal information that go far beyond what UK law requires.
Apple has crossed the Rubicon with this software update which is more like ransomware, holding customers hostage to ID demands that are invasive, exclusionary and unnecessary.
Children's online safety is vital but requires better parental controls and thoughtful tech responsibility - not sweeping, draconian, shock demands by foreign companies for all of our IDs and credit cards."

Microsoft's latest Copilot update opens any link you click inside the app in a built-in side panel powered by Edge, bypassing your default browser entirely, along with its extensions, passwords, and settings.
Microsoft says it keeps conversations and web content together for better context, but users get no opt-out choice.

@richxee95428 @Dexerto yeah most likely you won't get banned but the thing with twitch is that there ads are hard to block as they are built in streams
English

@theanalystC @Dexerto Is it safe from bans? I thought about getting an ad blocker but I was worried about getting banned so I paid the membership
English

@qualityslop @Dexerto of course not but they have quick response to youtubes blocking of adblockers workarounds
English

@theanalystC @Dexerto do you seriously think ad blocking extensions are exclusive to Brave?
English

@papatou15 @Dexerto i searched this issue and you can make a custom filter to block twitch ads but not sure if it works
English

@theanalystC @Dexerto Doesnt work for twitch, at least not for me

🦔 Reports suggest Windows 12 will launch later this year as a modular, AI-focused OS. Microsoft's Copilot will be a core part of the system rather than optional. Some features may be locked behind a subscription model for "advanced AI services." The OS will also require a dedicated NPU (neural processing unit), which would lock out millions of PC owners whose hardware doesn't have one. Windows 10 support ends around the same time.
My Take
This is enshittification taken to its logical conclusion. An operating system you've been using for decades is now going to require a subscription for features, mandatory AI integration, and new hardware just to keep using it. Microsoft is betting that most people won't switch because switching is hard and they've spent years building dependencies on Windows.
I wrote about this cycle a few weeks ago. A product starts out serving users, then starts extracting value from them once they're locked in. Microsoft has 1.4 billion Windows users. They're not worried about losing a few million to Linux because most people won't bother. The NPU requirement is particularly frustrating because it forces hardware upgrades for AI features a lot of people don't want in the first place. You're buying a new computer so Microsoft can run Copilot on it. Linux is better than it's ever been and switching is more viable than most people think, but Microsoft is counting on inertia winning and historically that bet has paid off.
