I get some of these are misses or straight up disasters, but if my agent got me working with Leos Carax, Noah Baumbach, Ridley Scott (twice), Michael Mann, and Francis Ford Coppola within 4 years, the last thing I'd be thinking is "I gotta fire this guy"

@ByFleurine And you have an idea you really like but you spend so much time waiting for responses from editors it literally becomes out of date

I think something that would surprise people about freelance journalism is that you can spend an entire day just sending pitches to editors and get none of them commissioned.

Crashed out of TIFF early (thanks covid) but now have a shiny new post-TIFF/Venice top 12 of 2024!

@mrbrianrowe At Venice (Venice!) I saw two people who needed to be told by ushers that they couldn't record the film -- at two separate screenings. They both seemed shocked, as though this was they first they were hearing of this rule!

I have been SHOCKED by the lack of theater etiquette from many audience members at TIFF. Almost every screening somebody beside me has been on their phone. I thought I could get away from this madness at a film festival, but such has not been the case.

Love the inherent gag in Heretic of Mormon missionaries being held hostage by someone extremely committed to forcing them to listen to his insane religious ramblings and they have to be, like, polite about it

Bring Them Down for sure brought me down, great performances across the board but is definitely in first place for the movie at TIFF that came closest to making me throw up

Amy Adams in Nightbitch is basically the mom from that fucked up The Cut article about neglecting her pets after having a baby
