Right now, cherry blossoms are blooming beautifully all across Japan. 🌸 This spring, the sakura feels like a perfect symbol — a fresh beginning. I get it. And the reason that happened is because it’s en vogue right now in conservative circles to say you are a “Christian” or “on God’s side”. Most of these are fakers and false converts. At best they are involved in something called Moral Therapeutic Deism (google it). James absolutely counters this with the real tenderness and mercy of Christ as his appeal so it’s very compelling! However James Talerico is not a Biblical Christian either. He has hijacked portions of scripture to fit his social gospel. He isn’t the first and won’t be the last. James Talerico intentionally blurs the authority of Scripture in favor of modern, leftist, marxist reinterpretation James elevates personal experience over traditional, normative orthodox doctrine developed over thousands of years of scholarship and tradition. He further reframes core Christian teachings in ways incongruent with the Bible- like Matthew 25 being “how we are judged and saved.” Somehow he goes into universalism via a passage that’s discussing believers vs unbelievers. James wants to make the conversation about Christ-like performance as the path to God. Fortunately for us that is not an option. We all failed. We are all condemned and found as failures and enemies of God. Because NONE of us are good- and none of us are righteous we all need rescue via faith in Christ. Trust in Christ alone is what saves- and what should humble us into being merciful and kind. It’s a result.

I’m frustrated this morning. I’m hurt. Last night I made a post about @jamestalarico and how the way he speaks, the way he explains things, and the way he talks about love and people has stirred something in me. Something real. Something I have not felt in a long time. It made me feel like my heart was moving a little closer toward God. Then the comments came. This morning I woke up to even more. If you could see some of the direct messages I’ve received… It’s sad. Truly sad. People calling me a communist. People telling me I’m wrong. People acting like my step toward faith only counts if it fits inside their beliefs, their politics, and their box. It’s not non believers doing this. It’s religious people. I have not seen a single message telling me to stay away from God. What I have seen are people telling me how I have to come to God if I want to be accepted. I was just being honest about what I was feeling. I said I felt like I had moved a little closer. Closer… Somehow even that did not feel acceptable. Instead of encouragement, I feel judged. Instead of grace, I feel corrected. Instead of being pulled closer, I feel pushed back. If someone says they feel a little closer to God, why would that not be met with kindness? Jesus is not a Democrat. Jesus is not a Republican. What keeps speaking to my heart is simple. ➡️ Love thy neighbor ⬅️ Some of you think you are defending faith. But what it feels like on this side is that you are pushing someone away who was taking a small step closer… That is where I am this morning. Frustrated.

Let’s summarize where we are after a 40+ day Democrat shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security. 1) ICE and CBP are funded, thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts and the foresight of President Trump and Republicans in Congress. 2) After holding DHS and the American people hostage for over 40 days, Dems got ZERO restrictions that would prevent ICE and CBP agents from doing their jobs safely. 3) Due to Dem obstruction of the appropriations process, ICE and CBP will get even more funding through budget reconciliation. 4) Dems have once again established themselves as the “Open Borders, Defund the Police” party heading into an election. 5) Dem leadership has proven once again they can’t be trusted to make a deal. Which begs the question if you’re a Dem senator or one of their left-wing supporters: What was this really all about?
