@OneRadChee To be a ‘professional’ librarian in public and schools requires a Masters degree. For public it has to be certed by the ALA. 80ish schools in the US fit that, it is a process that takes 5+ years for schools and even if your MLIS is AASL certed it doesn’t count.

@historyfocusnet @JosephSokolovi1 @MattRKay It’s not what was ‘okay’ back then, it was what was normalized by the people who profited off of it. And because what is normalized back then impacts today the only way to grow is learning from history, not making excuses for it.

@historyfocusnet @JosephSokolovi1 @MattRKay Understanding isn’t the issue people have with people being ‘woke’, it’s that we don’t allow it to excuse behavior. Behavior that people in that own time period knew was wrong and should be stopped.
