Oh my, what a problem. Let's just reach out and turn that music way up. What problem?

@bananu7 Need is a loose word there 🤪 But as I said, probably a lathe or mill.

I am operating in my extremely limited garage/workshop space, and there's still quite some time before I can migrate. I think I can fit one tool in now (eventually all). What would you pick? Deliberately vague. * lathe * milling machine * TIG welder * bandsaw

@bananu7 Well, welder does be fairly small 🤷‍♀️

@bananu7 Not sure that's quite what I was meaning... Like, is there something significant in maths about a set that contains numbers and letters opposed to only numbers. Obviously they would be different sets, but it's there like some property of interest there?

Started thinking about mathematical sets... Do they factor in the concept of types? Like, is a set that contains only numbers different to one that contains strings and shapes? From maths point of view, are they just sets, or is this only a programming problem?

@bananu7 🤔 wouldn't that mean once the plane is at X speed, the treadmill is too?

@thecoshman Yeah, that's part of the poor wording. If you read "wheel speed" as "linear translation of wheel axles relative to ground" you get almost infinite treadmill speeds.

@bananu7 You could also argue about what 'speed of the wheels' means. If they are rotating, but not translating, is the 'zero speed'? But yeah, the core of the 'problem' is having to think about how a plane moves itself forward. The belt moving would add negligible resistance

@thecoshman Depending on how you read the puzzle, it might end up rotating the wheels at infinite speeds :D. At twice rated takeoff speed they would be more fine, as that's just gentle static load, compared to what happens during landing. Tyres are the main factor, not bearings.

@TonyTheLion2500 I think it gets to us more because we know it doesn't need to be so shit. We see all the corners that were cut, the poor decisions, the neglect of time. They have innocence to sooth them.

I'm 'supposed' to be good at computers - whatever that means - but if software I use is not intuitive to me, then I do wonder how people who are not super techy deal with it? Like if it pisses me off trying to use it, what happens to other people??

I spent 10+ years writing code, only last year did I conclude that computers are essentially 'math machines'. 😭

so my new job is parsing people's output and I'm used to parsing machine output, the latter made me angry, the former gives me anxiety. 😵‍💫

If you're one to make espresso martini at home, do yourself a favour, start making cold brew coffee for it instead. Not only is it a nice way to have coffee but elevates the cocktail to a whole other level!

AI "artists" are now publicly getting angry at other AI "artists" for copying their word for word prompts. They're calling it plagiarism. I wish this was satire.
