According to Steinbranding (the creators of Doki), the character’s name came from the phrase “a Dog for Kids” which forms the word “Doki” It’s a simple but clever origin for one of Discovery Kids’ most recognizable mascots.

Sorry if my tweet about Doki’s animation was confusing... I know all digital animation uses keyframes. I meant Doki seems to use more rig/motion graphics animation in After Effects rather than traditional frame-by-frame animation. Sorry to anyone offended.

In a Doki flash game called "Juega a ser artista" a bear resembling Freddy Fazbear (character from FNAF) appears in the musical notes minigame. However, this is just a coincidence because the flash game was released in 2008 and FNAF in 2014. (Credits to Mateo for this fact)
