One issue with Last Action Hero is there's no standout action sequence. Obviously, do "hyper Arnold" action, but they didn't go there. So, I've never seen anything from LAH in any reference material for a coordinating job. And the kid is somehow snottier than young Anakin.

Last Action Hero (1993) got buried on release, dropped into the same window as Jurassic Park and sold like a straight Arnold blockbuster, so the meta angle didn’t land. In hindsight, it’s a self-aware action film that deconstructs the genre.

JCVD could do a handful of kicks exceptionally well. He basically invented the American kicking shape, and that's huge. Even Donnie Yen could only market a handful of shapes internationally: sprawl, suplex, peekaboo, that arms-up-guarding thing... You can only brand so much.

We live in an era with more Hollywood martial arts movie made than ever but with fewer stars who actually knows martial arts. Like JCVD was probably one of the least skilled martial arts stars of his era but we have no one right now who’s even remotely close to him.
