the history of Tottenham Hotspur
After several hours in Tottenham Cemetery over the past few weeks I can reveal that the restoration of Billy Minters grave has been completed. Billy was the first player to score 100 goals for the club (101 in 262) and was manager between 1927 and 1929. He served our club for 32 years until his death in 1940. This is just the start of my project of restoring the final resting places of our former players and heroes. @SpursOfficial

@henrywinter A suspended transfer ban... Does that mean it actually hasn't got a transfer ban?

Good result for Chelsea: club fined only £10m and given a suspended transfer ban after Premier League found 36 separate undisclosed payments totalling £47.5m made “to 12 persons or entities on behalf of the club”. Lenient sanctions. No sporting sanctions. Yet these are serious offences, as the sanction agreement between the PL and Chelsea makes clear, stating “they were not only obvious and deliberate breaches of the rules but also because they involved deception and concealment in relation to financial matters”. Yet no points deductions. Just a manageable (if record) fine and a “suspended one-year first-team player transfer ban (suspended for two years)”. Surely they gained a sporting advantage by recruiting such players? So surely a sporting sanction should be in order? And where's the consistency? In 2008, Luton Town received a 10-point deduction for irregularities in dealing with agents (nb from FA). There still could be some further sanctions by the FA following its "ongoing investigation". PL points to mitigating factors: current owners Clearlake/Todd Boehly in May 2022 voluntarily self-reported potential historical breaches from the Roman Abramovich era. Club co-operated extensively and helped provide (with others) 10,000 documents for PL investigation. PL established “that between 2011 and 2018, undisclosed payments by third parties associated with the club were made to players, unregistered agents and other third parties”. Payments related to the purchases of players including Eden Hazard, Willian, Samuel Eto’o, David Luiz, Andre Schurrle and Nemanja Matic - there is no suggestion any were aware of the illicit payments. The detailed work of the investigators – and level of Clearlake’s co-operation – is impressive. The sanctions less so. It is a legitimate debate: should a club be punished for offences under a previous owner? Yes, most fans of other clubs would scream. It's a deterrent. And the value of those players' contribution and subsequent sales arguably still benefits the club. PL also investigated “potential breaches of the Premier League’s Youth Development Rules, committed by a former senior employee, relating to the club’s registration of Academy players between 2019 and 2022”. Again, self-reported by the club, this time in 2025. Chelsea punished with £750,000 fine and immediate nine-month ban from registering academy players from PL and EFL clubs. #CFC

“Margaret Houlihan Never Really Left.” — What Alan Alda Found Under Loretta Swit’s Bed February 2026. A few months after Loretta Swit passed away, Alan Alda and Mike Farrell quietly drove to her home to help her family sort through the last of her belongings. No press. No cameras. Just two old friends walking into a sunlit bedroom that still felt like her. The curtains were half-drawn. Dust floated in the afternoon light. Her script notes were still stacked neatly on a table. Alan stood in the doorway for a long moment. “Feels like she’s about to walk in and tell us we’re late for rehearsal,” he murmured. Mike gave a soft smile. “And yell at us for tracking dirt across the floor.” They both laughed. Then they found it. Under the bed. A small, battered tin box. The paint chipped. The lid dented. Across the top, secured with old yellowed medical tape, were four words written in Loretta’s unmistakably bold handwriting: “Property of 4077th — Keep Safe.” Alan knelt. His hands trembled—not just from Parkinson’s. He lifted the lid. Inside were no awards. No jewelry. No Hollywood memorabilia. Just… buttons. Hundreds of military buttons. Mike picked one up and held it to the light. “Alan,” he whispered. “This one’s from Harry’s jacket.” Another. “This one’s from Jamie’s dress uniform.” Another. “Larry’s.” Another. “David’s.” They looked at each other. And slowly, they understood. For eleven seasons—and for decades after—Loretta had quietly saved a button from each cast member’s costume. Sometimes she’d ask wardrobe. Sometimes she’d retrieve them after filming. Sometimes, when someone passed away, she would gently request one from storage. When asked once why she kept them, she had laughed and said: “Margaret Houlihan is the head nurse. And head nurses sew families back together.” She wasn’t joking. She had been stitching them together all along. At the very bottom of the tin box was a folded letter. Dated 2024. Alan unfolded it carefully. “Dear my two boys,” it began. “Margaret may have been rigid. But Loretta was always afraid of goodbye. I kept these buttons because as long as we hold a small piece of each other’s uniform, we will never lose our way in the dark. When I go, don’t cry for me. Take them back to Malibu. Let them rest in the soil where we laughed, cried, and became something real.” Alan stopped reading. His voice broke. Mike quietly finished the last line: “We were never just actors. We were family.” On February 28, 2026—forty-three years after Goodbye, Farewell and Amen—Alan and Mike drove to Malibu Creek State Park. No monument. No speeches. No photographers. Just wind moving through the canyon. They dug a small hole in the same dirt where the 4077th once stood. One by one, they let the buttons fall into the earth. Tiny pieces of uniforms. Tiny pieces of memory. Tiny pieces of love. Alan wiped his eyes. Then he stood as straight as he could. “Reporting in, Major Houlihan,” he whispered. “All personnel accounted for.” The wind moved through the canyon like distant helicopter blades. And for a moment… It felt like Margaret was still there. Because she never really left. She just made sure none of them ever would Loretta Swit’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her MASH* family.

The @Space_Station rarely makes big changes to its orientation, but we were lucky to experience such maneuvers (flipping around to fly butt-first, then flipping back again) before and after each @spacex CRS-33 reboost. This 60x speed timelapse was one of my favorites since it captures a little of everything - sunset, lightning storms, air glow, moon glint, stars, and sunrise - as we did one (actually very slow) orbital cartwheel from Atlantic to Pacific.
