AEW could realistically run a three-way trios angle of former Bullet Club leaders and their lieutenants once everyone is healthy. The fact that there wasn’t a proper BC ending or a 10th anniversary commemoration at Forbidden Door always felt like a missed opportunity.

Everything about the marketing of Lanterns so far points towards a theme of unlit lanterns. Two men who are lacking light in their lives in one way or another...before finding that light through their comraderie. It's called "Lanterns." Not "Green Lanterns." It's a human story about what makes a Green Lantern glow. I'd much rather consume a layered story centered around characters than some flashy popcorn affair that checks the superhero media boxes. Obviously, I'm looking forward to more action packed adventures with DCU Green Lantern in the future... ...but for now, I'm excited to watch a story about the roots of one of the Justice League's heavy hitters before the big screen adventures. The HBO Max DCU stuff has always been about world-building and spending more time in the DCU between major events. Lanterns was never meant to be "Green Lantern 1." It's just the prologue. If that's not enough for you, wait for Green Lantern 1 then.
