I know a lot of players will have differing opinions but, I will die on this hill. A lot of stuff like that, when you do it consistently enough compounds.
Things like hitting the gym, we used to do that at 9am on NYSL. Well why do you need to do that, you’re just nerds? Facilitating ways to connect, buy in, that tribe mentality. Even being more focused (won’t go into neuroscience) for practise. Discipline, habits. Sure, one time lays a brick but imagine a wall you create over 90 days?
It’s a competition, sports has already been there done that (non physical). That relentless drive to improve, we want to be better than you, so we will do everything we can. Reading, studying, practise habits, culture creation etc. You name it. I’ve seen scrims of simp screaming 110% like its champs.
I get it, it’s COD. It’s super duper unique or what ever. But every other thing in life (not just sports), even other esports, competition forces you to chase that 1% advantage no matter what. Relentless. Business, school, sports, esports - fundamentally all the same.
Focus on the process and the score should take care of it self (except last year lol)
I get annoyed when I see people not taking practise serious or waking up 5 minutes before maps. It’s a fucking competition.
