"Learn to code" was the advice of the 2010s. What's the equivalent advice for the 2030s?

I truly don't understand how Apple and Microsoft don't go to zero. They spend tens of billions building operating systems... That are then replicated for 1/8th the price 1.5 months later. They have zero moat. Windows & MacOS was supposed to be a breakthrough, now free Linux distro beats them.

If Codex is able to properly setup this large docker compose stack on OpenAI's Cloud environment, I am convinced I'll be unstoppable. My largest bottleneck is purely RAM, running 3-4 stacks at one time.

@thsottiaux simple: it's intuitive, and it just works. The hardest software to create is always the simplest one, and Codex just makes sense.

Here you are! Thinking I am about to announce a reset. But no. I’m just scrolling twitter and looking for feedback on ChatGPT Work. What should we improve?

@NickADobos They should add budget configuration. General at 20%, coding at 60%, misc at 20% - tag chat when you open it, or start a new API session.

One big problem with codex usage limits is I now run both a bunch of personal life chores and tasks with codex. So if I vibecode too close to the sun I brick my day planner & workout log for a few days. So I end up being too conservative to keep my small personal infra alive and don’t run ambitious loops to limit max and test codex

Every time @OpenAI's Codex has a so-called "usage reset," a lot of people, including me, don't actually get it. Is this intentional, or is it meant as a marketing strategy to encourage more people to sign up? I don't really understand.

Thank you to the 7M active users who are now using Codex and ChatGPT Work. We have added a banked reset to everyone's account to celebrate the milestone. You can apply the reset in the desktop app or on web and it will replenish the weekly usage for you. Have fun out there.

Haven't given my Claude subscription too much attention since GPT5.6 came out and the constant resets. Logged in and started a Fable Ultracode session to write a new project from scratch. It's been running for almost 5 hours, still not done, and misunderstood some basic constraints I mentioned earlier. I am even more convinced GPT5.6 took it this round.

@eastdakota Humans are animals of habits. These things will slowly but surely fade with time, but for the meantime, transition feels more natural if the old experience is synthesized in the new. Dumb, I agree. Give it time...

@pavelsvitek_ I can't speak for Peter's case, but I've found there is two valid ways to use tokens: (1) plan with pin-point accuracy, execute it (2) plan very loosely, execute it, repeat 3-5 times - option 2 burns 10x more tokens with 10x less mental load.

@jumperz Cheap and fast. I would take 20% dumber for 100% more speed nowadays. The bottleneck is my attention waiting for the agents to think through my responses.

openAI says they’re optimizing GPT 5.6 Sol so every prompt uses less usage, while temporarily removing the 5h limit… seems like we’re entering a different phase of the AI race… for the last 2 years it was all about shipping the smartest model and now it feels like the real competition is making those frontier models cheap enough that people can actually use them all day… honestly, i think that’s a much bigger advantage than squeezing out another few benchmark points..
Tibo@thsottiaux

Morning. The last 48 hours of Codex and ChatGPT Work have been intense! Three important updates: - Temporarily removing the 5 hour usage limit restriction for all Plus, Business and Pro plans - Rolling out changes that will make GPT 5.6 Sol more efficient across the board and that will be reflected in less usage being used so that it can take you further. Exact impact to be quantified and shared - We hit 6M active users, and are landing a usage reset in the next hour Go do things

@rvcas Completely agree. Installed a bunch of custom agent ware in hopes it would magically 'solve coding' ... didn't work. Back to vanilla Codex setup, with 4 custom skills that I repetitively use. Nothing replaces simplicity, and simply being part of the development.

I don’t use loops, skills, fancy orchestration, plugins or anything like that. I raw dog the agent with its default harness, I read the code, and I’m shipping more than ever to production for real projects used by real people. Sometimes if it’s a low risk part of the application I might skip reading the code but only sometimes. I think most are either lying about the amount of value they are creating or just having fun while understanding they aren’t creating value but failing to distinguish that to their audience.
