It’s an honor to help accelerate your journey of advocacy, organizing, and local change-making.

We’re especially proud of all our youth leaders. You’ve grown so much in these past few weeks—some of you were even shy to introduce yourself at orientation but stood & spoke courageously in front of many news cameras.

Yesterday we organized a rally demanding transit equity & economic justice for our community. We’re thankful for the intergenerational group of neighbors who joined us to call on @NYCMayor to deliver on his promise to connect Canarsie to the NYC Ferry system.

With $2.4 million in funding, organizations will provide programs and services that address hate violence, serve vulnerable populations, & to ensure a comprehensive, community-driven approach to preventing bias incidents and hate crimes.

The Partners Against the Hate (P.A.T.H.) FORWARD initiative launched in May 2021 to help combat bias-motivated incidents and hate crimes in New York City.

Stop Hate 🛑 Spread Love 💛 The Flossy Organization is honored to be apart of Partners Against the Hate (PATH) coalition & execute community-based strategies to combate hate, bias & discrimination.

Our community has been organizing to bring a ferry to Canarsie for years and we won’t stop until we win‼️

Our new @futureleadersinaction fellow, Sam, from Red Hook put it well: “These are working-class communities that need to be at the center of these discussions of transit accessibility and transit equity,”

Earlier this month we had an exclusive interview with @cbsnewyork @hannahkliger to discuss our fight for transit equity. With the pause of congestion pricing, we see this as an opportunity to refocus the conversation on supporting communities that are too often forgotten.

How many more teenagers must our community bury before we hit a threshold for a cure violence site? @NYCYouth @nycmayor @NYCHA Bay View Houses deserves more. Thank you @ManUpInc_Usa for being on ground & supporting Bay View.

His administration responded that they’re still studying the data to see if there’s a need at Bay View. This was after we already had multiple teenagers fatally shot. Insane. Now we’ve lost another child to violence.

Rest in peace Samaya Mackey. Our hearts are broken for her loved ones and the Canarsie Bay View community. A couple months ago we asked @NYCMayor directly at his town hall meeting for $1.6 million to fully fund a cure violence site at Bay View.

This weekend we supported the family of Christian Montrose, a 19-yr-old who died due to senseless #gunviolence in Canarsie, believed to be by mistaken identity. Thank you to @TheFlossyOrg for inviting us to stand with you. Together we must #endgunviolence. #RIPChristianMontrose

Canarsie's @TheFlossyOrg shows the impact we can each have locally in our neighborhood—in our building, block, or borough. It also stands as an example of the power of a holistic approach, one that treats the whole community by addressing inequities and injustices at their root.
