Deadly shootout in Northern California after officers apparently failed to properly search a suspect before placing him in the front seat of his cruiser. Mt. Shasta Police Department and Weed Police Department released body cam footage showing the incident that happened on March 21, 2026, during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 near the north Weed off-ramp. An officer pulled over a car traveling northbound at the north Weed off-ramp for multiple violations, including excessive window tint and an unsafe lane change. The officer called for help with a K-9 drug sniff, and a Mt. Shasta police officer responded to assist. During the search, the Weed officer found a large amount of suspected methamphetamine hidden in a stereo speaker box. As the officer approached the man, who was sitting in front of the patrol car, the man pulled out a gun from his waist and pointed it at the officer. The officer then shot the man. Medical help was provided at the scene, and the man was taken to Dignity Mt. Shasta for treatment, where he later died from his injuries. One officer suffered minor injuries from a fall during the incident

The outline of the UK's largest chalk hill figure, the Cerne Abbas Giant, is getting a revamp with 17 tonnes (18.7 tons) of wet chalk. The giant is etched on the hillside above Cerne Abbas, a village in Dorset, England. Last night's movie: 'Star Wars: The Return of Skywalker' Grade: D Hadn't seen this since it came out, and for the first 30 minutes or so, I was chastising myself for hating it. Those 30 minutes are fun. Rey, Poe Finn, C3PO out on adventures, bantering, chemistry... Then. Rey used the Force to heal the big snake. What. The Hell. Then it became Rey's movie and she's boring and the DumbCom between her and Kylo as they use the Force to Zoom, kill me now. Barely there, Leia. There are no stakes because everyone comes back to life one way or another. Boring Rey choosing to "identify" as a Skywalker. The whole Emperor thing... I blame Rian Johnson for killing Snoke. Retard. Galloping across starships. Relegating Lando to hitting the gas and yelling yippee. Homely lesbians. At least they sidelined Rose Tico. Oh, on this whole giant planet, we just happened to crash in the exact spot where you can hold the knife-map up to your eyes and have it find the thing. Of the three sequels, as much as I hated its hostility towards me, The Last Jedi felt like a movie. TFA and TROS are amusement rides. But they all suck. Rey is a dreadful protagonist. No one can relate to little Miss Prissy-Perfect. She's the same character at the end of the trilogy as at the beginning. Compare that to how much Luke Skywalker grew during the original trilogy.

@washghost1 I believe punishments like these, prevalent in medieval/feudal times, are responsible for certain cultures having relatively low crime rates. Cultures that went through these periods executed loads of ppl that were aggressive and non-law abiding resulting in calmer societies.
