It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phoebe Penfold, women's captain of 2022/23. Phoebe passed away on the 9th of March Under her captaincy, W1 bumped up 2 places to claim the Lents Headship, then up 4 places, in Mays 2023 to claim the Headship there too.

On Saturday, O1 made sure to finish off what they had started on Friday and caught Downing to move up to 3rd place on the river (we feel that Top 3 is the right place to be 😉 )

O1 had a very exciting race on Friday, chasing Downing all of the way, but not quite catching them. Downing had a slight advantage of clear water, because LMBC had crabbed near the start & Caius got a quick & easy bump there to claim head

W1 faced the biggest test of the week, being chased by Trinity Hall on Friday, but they moved away progressively and were never in danger of relinquishing their headship On Saturday they merely repeated that feat & successfully retained their position at Head of the Lents 🍾

Correction: W2 bumped Corpus just beyond the Plough, but only just around Ditton corner.

They finish the week as the highest 2nd VIII by quite a margin. The price of that is that they are always mixing with 1st VIIIs.

On Friday, W2 bumped Corpus 1 just outside the Plough, to delight a few Trustees who were watching On Saturday they chased Fitz 1, who somehow managed to bump-back on Murray Edwards 1, leaving a void in front of them and no opportunity to win their blades (shame)

O2 bumped Homerton 1 (quite easily) on Friday and then rowed over on Saturday behind Girton 1 Up 2 overall and they finish as the 3rd highest 2nd VIII< behind Caius and Maggie

O3 were bumped by Emma 3 on Friday and then rowed over on Saturday, as Emma bumped LMBC 3 They finish as 3rd highest 3rd VIII behind Emma and LMBC, with FaT, Pembroke, Hall & Sidney Sussex 3rd VIIIs all quite close behind them bumps.camfm.co.uk/?allboats=true

All goes to show the strength ad depth of JCBC (particularly the women's crews)

They finish as the 3rd highest 3rd VIII behind Emma and Newnham and we feel that Newnham 3 were luck that there wasn't an extra day of racing otherwise we would have surely caught them too!

W3 bumped Catz 2 on Thursday and then, as Sandwich boat, bumped Hughes Hall 2 on Friday (having had the advantage of not having had to race at head of Div4, because that div had a day off) They then bumped Anglia Ruskin 1 on Saturday

Catching up with results from Friday and Saturday W4 rowed over, but then managed to catch Emma 4 on Saturday to move off the foot of the river and finish up as the highest placed 4th VIII! The week was a memorable one for them all

O1 bumped Clare and will chase Downing tomorrow LMBC M1 row over at Head, but will be chased by Caius tomorrow

W1 rowed over at head again. Behind them Hall bumped Maggie and will chase our crew tomorrow.

O2 bumped Hughes Hall 1 today and will chase Homerton 1 tomorrow They are the 3rd highest 2nd VII, behind Maggie & Caius

W2 bumped Magdalene 1 and will chase Corpus 1 tomorrow They are the highest placed 2nd VIII by a long way, as Newnham 2 drop down

W3 and O3 get a day off today, but will race again tomorrow
