Rockwood Superintendent Curtis Cain speaks on the meeting and how the two districts will continue working together.

The joint meeting comes to an end as the Superintendents discuss future plans for each district.

Starting in 2026-27 school year, districts will have to calculate tax rates as if tax revenue has been received. Previously property tax rates were based on the assessed value of property. The new change district like Rockwood will loose money as properties continue to rise.

A current purposed income tax bill in Missouri legislation is estimated to reduce over $10 million or about 3.1% of Rockwood’s spending. This equates to about $971 lost per student.
