@bumblemio I feel like it’s a mix of timeline reset and memory alteration due to Pochita’s powers. Cuz notice how Nayuta specifically returned, not (a normal) Makima but Nayuta. And even Power is a little friendlier here to how she was at the beginning of CSM.

in fact i’d go as far as to say a lot of people’s grievances are born of them misinterpreting the universe reset. ALL of it still Happened. ALL of it still Mattered. even if they can’t remember it. it still mattered. feelings have carried over.

people are misinterpreting nayuta so badly. she was still raised by denji, even if they can’t remember it. the evidence is in how she is hugely expressive like pt 2 nayuta rather than vacant like end of pt 1 nayuta. denji’s love still shaped who she is in this world.

Chainsaw Man Part 2’s ending is (though rushed) the finalization of the series’ themes of shonen and heroism. Without Pochita, the world and Denji are better off in the end. Asa is no longer ostracized, Nayuta isn’t like Makima, and Denji is freed from the curse of Chainsaw Man.
