It felt surreal at the time. I was sexually harassed by another patient (much older than me) and wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom by myself or go for walks/exercise because I was considered “high risk”…. Most of us in the ward were suic!dal but I remember a psychotic addict going through withdrawal (she came straight from the hospital after giving birth, and her baby was seized by the state); she would scream and scream all night long. My roommate was a sweet gentle woman whom I still think about often (she was afraid of what she might do after the sudden death of her son). I was undiagnosed back then and had to be rushed back to the emergency room because of an oversight in their medication. It felt like a jail term I was serving for the crime of being sick…. 2/10, would not recommend. 💔✂️
