I actually rewatched Terror of Mechagodzilla last night and it fucking rocks

THE EARLIEST KNOWN GODZILLA FAN FILM The Fire Monsters (1959) by Don Glut. Filmed in Chicago and Harrisburg. Influenced by "Gigantis." Godzilla and Anguirus emerge from the waters of Chicago. At the end Godzilla climbs the tallest building in the city (Prudential) and falls.

At long last, here is the cover for Scoring Godzilla: An Analysis of Akira Ifukube's Musical Narratives by Erik Homenick, published by McFarland and Company. There may be some very slight design changes in the coming days, but this is essentially it. Scoring Godzilla is the first book of its kind in English--and in any language. It is a close examination of Akira Ifukube's singular, auteurist contributions to Godzilla films based on years of research. It frames the composer as not merely a creator of "background sounds" on a film's soundtrack, but as an artist who, through his music, shapes how we may understand and interpret the deeper meanings of the truly multifaceted Godzilla phenomenon.
