It's a wonderful film. The seventies was filled with those kind of thrillers, from THE FRENCH CONNECTION to SORCERER. I don't even think Hollywood knows how to make those kind of films anymore. Walter Matthau made two other thrillers around the same time as PELHAM that were also quite good, if less well-known: CHARLIE VARRICK and THE LAUGHING POLICEMAN.
