Starting conference play with a statement win! The Wheaton baseball team hosted Millikin University in its CCIW-opening doubleheader this afternoon, and the Thunder snapped the Big Blue's eight-game win streak with a smothering performance in Saturday's first matchup. Wheaton scored six runs across its last three batting series to claim the wire-to-wire victory and tallied nine extra-base hits in an impressive outing on both sides of the ball. Alex Bagley (pictured) earned his second win of the season on the mound with a career-high seven strikeouts and allowed just six hits from 31 batters faced in his eight innings of work. Nathan Hedlund helped power the Thunder offense with two hits, two RBI, two runs, and his first home run of the year, while Jack Gill led all players with three hits and matched Hedlund on two RBI. Wheaton will continue its five-game home stand with a 6 PM non-conference contest against Dubuque on Tuesday. #LetsRoll

Signing off from Tucson with a big result! The Wheaton baseball team scores six runs in the first two innings and adds six more in the seventh to run-rule Hamline University and earn the series sweep over the Pipers. The Thunder close out their Spring Break slate in Arizona with a 5-2 record for the week and have won four-consecutive games. Charlie Scofield (pictured) led all players with three hits in today's contest and posted joint game-highs of three runs and three RBI. Sean Dmytrowicz and Tyler Burr each tallied two hits, one run, and matched Scofield on three RBI. Jack Gill and Nathan Hedlund both registered two hits and three runs, while Mason Diel contributed a pair of hits and RBIs in the victory. Jonah Moulton got the start on the mound today and sat down three opposition batters before Jack Mazurowski earned his first collegiate win with two strikeouts in relief. Jack Lindsay saw out the game for the Thunder with a 2.1-inning no-hitter to clinch his first save of the year. Next up for Wheaton is the team's home-opener on Wednesday evening against Concordia University Chicago. #LetsRoll Picture by Ary Frank.

One run is all it takes! The Thunder baseball team shuts out Hamline University and scores a late decisive run to pick up the second victory of its Spring Break series. Tyler Burr (pictured) logged the winning score in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Jack Gill. Burr stole a base in the lead-up to his winning run, and he was joined on one stolen bag by James Scott, who also registered one hit. Jamin Van Grouw earned his first career win on the mound with a seven-inning shutout and tallied four strikeouts while allowing just three hits from 28 batters faced. Josh Ortiz and JD Van Hook each sat down one batter in their single inning of relief work, with Van Hook collecting his second save of the season. Wheaton's team does not play for the next two days and will return to action on Friday evening with a doubleheader against Crown College. #LetsRoll Picture by Ary Frank.
