A walk-off winner seals a big home sweep! The Wheaton baseball team hosted North Central College for a pair of conference contests this afternoon, and the Thunder defeated the Cardinals in both games to claim the season series and move above .500 on the year. Wheaton is now alone atop the CCIW standings with a 5-2 record in league play. The Thunder turned an 8-7 deficit around in the final inning of game two to secure a dramatic victory thanks to Jack Gill's walk-off RBI that scored Ryan Cartwright for the winning run. Wheaton's game one win was highlighted by another standout performance on the mound from David Levengood. The junior threw a 7.2-inning shutout and gave up just two hits while matching his career-high eight strikeouts. Levengood and Billy Kessler each earned their third wins of the season today, while JD Van Hook picked up his fifth save of the year in game one, tied for the most in the CCIW. The Thunder are back at Lee Pfund Stadium on Monday evening to host North Park for a single game at 6 PM. #LetsRoll

Claiming the series with win #10! The Wheaton baseball team traveled to Augustana College this afternoon for a doubleheader, and the Thunder defeated the Vikings in today's first game to secure their tenth victory of the season and earn a 2-1 weekend split. Wheaton logged five extra-base hits in the win, including two home runs, and drew eight walks in a strong offensive showing. Chris Lynam (pictured) led the team with two hits, two scores, and two RBI and blasted his first career home run in the seventh inning. He was joined on two hits by Jack Gill and James Scott and matched on two RBI by Charlie Scofield and Braden Engel, the latter of whom stole the only base of the game. Mason Diel also tallied a home run, while Tyler Burr and Ryan Cartwright each contributed two runs and one hit in the victory. Alex Bagley improved to 3-0 on the mound, surrendering just three hits and two runs through five innings. Jack Mazurowski tallied four strikeouts and allowed zero hits or runs in two innings of relief work. Next up for the Thunder is a visit to North Park University for a single game on Wednesday afternoon. #LetsRoll

Digging deep for a midweek W! The Thunder baseball team jumps out to an early lead over Dubuque and withstands the Spartans' late rally attempt to earn its eighth win of the season. James Scott (pictured left) was 2-3 at the plate tonight with a team-high three runs and one RBI. The program's single-season record-holder in hit-by-pitches tallied his 20th HBP of the year on Tuesday, second-most in Division III.  Jack Gill, Charlie Scofield, and Sean Dmytrowicz all matched Scott on two hits, with Scofield driving in the game-winning run in the seventh inning that was scored by Gill. Nathan Hedlund led all players with three RBIs in the victory. Carson Grier got his first collegiate start on the mound this evening and tossed a game-high six strikeouts while allowing just one run through four innings. Billy Kessler earned his second win of the year, and JD Van Hook racked up his fourth save, as each pitcher sat down two Spartans and did not concede a run in their relief appearances. Wheaton will conclude a five-game home stand on Friday with a 5 PM conference matchup against Augustana. #LetsRoll
