Let’s be real: the BCCI straight up sold the soul of the IPL for a massive check. Adding LSG and GT wasn't about "growing the game," it was a pure cash grab that absolutely nuked the quality of the league. Nobody and I mean nobody is waking up hyped to see LSG grind out a mid-off against GT on a Tuesday night. It’s killing the vibe. Remember when we had 8 teams? That was peak cricket. It was a proper "home and away" war. You lose the first leg? Fine, you mark the calendar for the revenge match. It felt like a closed-circuit battle where every single ball mattered. Now, with this weird group-stage scheduling, you don’t even play everyone twice. It feels random, diluted, and cheap. We used to see our favorite stars every 2-3 days; now they get lost in the shuffle of a never-ending season. And don't even get me started on the playoffs. To have 10 teams fighting for the same 4 spots and then keep the same knockout format? That is insane. Back in the day, finishing 3rd or 4th was a solid achievement. Now, you have to survive a literal hunger games against 9 other teams just to get to the Eliminator, where one bad hour sends you home? It’s statistically a joke. If you’re expanding the league, you have to expand the rewards. The IPL used to be a prestigious sprint; now it’s just a bloated marathon that people are starting to watch on mute.

I just realized there is no exact equivalent word for "empathy" in Hindi. Or any Indian language. Explains a lot, doesn't it. The closest one is the Sanskrit "samvedana" which is very close to empathy but not quite and is not broadly used. This concept of feeling/sharing/understanding someone else's pain, trauma and suffering is very alien to our culture. Because our culture is basically the caste system. And caste system actually actively *disincentivizes* empathy. We have words for kindness, compassion, love, charity, generosity, but not for empathy. Frankly, many older cultures don't understand and define empathy. Not just ours. It's an highly evolved concept, an high evolved word. And we we are a highly unevolved, backward culture.
