@_aftab_drawing I had another thought I'd like to add: to keep the focus on hornet, the area around her is the lightest and free from other details, while the rest of the piece is darker and filled with small but similar details (plants)

@_aftab_drawing here I first put hornet in the upper right (not-quite) third, and then simply made the sea plants follow the same movement, in a way that felt natural at the moment

@_aftab_drawing thank you! I didn't do much planning for this piece, but generally I try to follow the rule of thirds and make the shapes into a flow
