The best thing that could happen to Fernando Mendoza is him going in the 4th round. Why? Because that’s the NFL translation of his Indiana game film. Overhyping and overdrafting quarterbacks doesn’t do them any favors. All it does is create unrealistic expectations that they themselves have proven they can never reach. All it does is set them up to fail.

Andy Reid once told me Rookie QB’s should never start right away if possible— Raiders fans should be thrilled about the Kirk Cousins signing, it’s the best thing that could happen to Mendoza.

@NFL_Convo Too many teams rush rookie QBs in and basically ruin them. Adjusting to the NFL becomes much more difficult when you're on an incomplete team like the Raiders. Groom him, give him time. Adjust the concepts for what is working and then cut the rook loose.

The Raiders planning to start Cousins over Mendoza should tell you exactly how they feel about Mendoza In no world should the 1st Overall pick backup a 37 year old washed QB while they are in rebuild mode
