Flyers just made the playoffs and big names are flying. Fan expectations are sky high for a (still rebuilding) young team…

Charlie is one of the few with level headed takes. The shit I'm seeing on this app is wild. Y'all need to chill. The Flyers are not magically Cup contenders next year because they won a single playoff round this year. They'll be fine.

I really don't think it was that big of a deal. Briere has always focused on the long game here, and it was very in line with that mentality. He's pretty clearly still trying to improve the roster right now. I'm sure he's getting killed for it on here though. Perils of the job.

@KratosKilla @charlieo_conn And that's fine! They're not supposed to be cup contenders yet. The main core they should start condensing with is like 24 and under right now. It's fine if they are a bubble team for another year. Panicking gets you Trouba at 4x$8 and Nurse with full salary like the Sharks.

@therealbrobie @charlieo_conn Their strategy as admitted by Keith Jones was to pounce on the free agents from this class without thinking they would go back to their own teams. Now they have tons of cap space with no one to sign. They are bordering on a bubble team if all breaks right

@JAKaut @charlieo_conn My thoughts exactly. They were one of the 5 best teams after the Olympic break, and they're starting next season with a slightly improved roster - plus young guys potentially getting better. They'll be better next year even if this is all they do.

@charlieo_conn I agree. We have a massive surplus of wingers. We have picks. Who’s to say that an RFA trade doesn’t happen. If we sign Carlson, that would be massive.
Also, we just transitioned to the new core in like February. This doom and gloom is wild to me.
