WISCONSIN: The "Badger State" and "America's Dairyland" is renowned for the following fun facts (and so much more): ✔️ Wisconsin is the nation's largest producer of cheese and 2nd largest producer of butter. ✔️ Birthplace of the ice cream sundae, Two Rivers in 1881. ✔️ Harley-Davidson was founded in Milwaukee in 1903. ✔️ The first Ringling Brothers Circus was staged in Baraboo, Wisconsin in 1856. ✔️ Wisconsin Dells is home to the largest waterpark in the US. ✔️ Leading producer of ginseng and cranberries in the US. ✔️ Home to the Apostle Islands, one of the largest and most beautiful archipelagos in the lower 48 and comprised of 22 Islands in Lake Superior. ✔️ The Republican Party was founded March 20, 1854 in Ripon, Wisconsin, in "The Little White Schoolhouse," to oppose the expansion of slavery via the Kansas-Nebraska Act, launching a new political movement. ✔️ Wisconsin is home to 11 federally recognized Native American tribes and has the largest concentration of tribes east of the Mississippi. ✔️ Wisconsin features ~84k+ miles of streams and rivers, and virtually all of its natural lakes were formed by glaciers. ✔️ The first hydroelectric plant in the US began operation in Appleton in 1882. ✔️ The first-ever kindergarten classes in the U.S. were held in Watertown in 1856 at the home of a German couple. ✔️ Strange Capital Cities: While Madison is the state capital, Wisconsin is home to self-proclaimed capitals like the "Bratwurst Capital" (Sheboygan), "Toilet Paper Capital" (Green Bay), "Ginseng Capital" (Wausau/ Marathon county), and "Troll Capital" (Mount Horeb). ✔️ Summerfest is the nation's largest music festival. ✔️ Monroe is considered the "Swiss Cheese Capital of the US". ✔️ Approximately 2.1 million, or roughly 36%-40% of Wisconsin's population, are of German descent, giving the state one of the highest percentage of German-Americans in the US. ✔️ Kenosha is home to the American Motors Corp (AMC) manufacturing, including the iconic Rambler, Javelin, Gremlin, Pacer, Hornet, and Eagle. ✔️ The St. Joan of Arc chapel in Milwaukee is the oldest European built building in the western hemisphere. It is illegal for anyone to sell or distribute it outside of Wisconsin, making it a regional giant rather than a national brand. ✔️ Famous movies filmed in Wisconsin include: Amityville Horror, Public Enemies, Bridesmaids, Mr. 3000, Back To School, Winning. ✔️ Wisconsin invented the Butter Burger, frozen custard, the Brandy Old Fashioned cocktail, Kringle pastry, Cream Puffs, Beer Cheese Soup, Booyah Stew, and the Friday Night Fish Fry. ✔️ The Door County fish boil tradition was started in the late 1800s by Scandinavian settlers (fishermen and loggers) as an economical, efficient way to feed large groups. It evolved from a necessity for workers into a tourist attraction around 1900, with restaurants like The Viking Grill and White Gull Inn. ✔️ Tombstone Pizza was founded in 1962 at the Tombstone Tap in Medford, WI. ✔️ Lake Geneva is referred to as "Newport of the Midwest," and Door County is referred to as "Cape Cod of the Midwest." ✔️ Lake Michigan is the only inland Great Lake owned exclusively by the US. Lake Michigan is also the most dangerous lake in the US because of its rip currents, which attracts a growing number of year-round surfers, particularly in Kenosha, Racine, and Sheboygan. ✔️ Wisconsin has a massive, historic shipbuilding industry, particularly in Sturgeon Bay, Manitowoc, and Marinette, producing submarines, warships, and commercial vessels for over 150 years. During WWII, Manitowoc built 28 submarines, while Sturgeon Bay created over 80 vessels.

UW River Falls just won the Stagg Bowl (D3 Natty) This team didn’t have a winning season for 19 seasons from 2001-2019. They hadn’t made the D3 playoffs since 1996 until this season. This season they averaged almost 600 YPG and almost 80 plays per game. Tonight they are national champions on a night their QB Kaleb Blaha broke the NCAA yards in a season record that was held by 2019 Joe Burrow. North Central had been unbeatable all season they only played one single procession game in the regular season. They had been scoring 50,60, and even 70 points in games this season. They had played in the last five national titles and won 3 of them. UW-River Falls beat them. One of the best stories in college athletics you’ll see.
