In my Founder's Journey class at @HarvardHBS Prof. Ghosh tried to explain AI's exponential improvement and it went like this: Take a normal sheet of paper (around 0.1 mm thick) Fold it in half Each fold doubles the thickness After 10 folds you have a 10cm tall piece of paper After 15 folds you have a 3meter tall piece of paper (about the height of the classroom) Anyone want to guess how many folds would it take to reach the moon? Classroom: "millions" "100K" "2K" Prof. Ghosh: Right answer is 42 Classroom: WOW 😯😯😯 Prof. Ghosh: Anyone want to guess how many folds would it take to go to the moon and back? Classroom: 🦗 Crickets 🦗 Prof. Ghosh: 43 🤯 The point is: There are dozens of such examples (rice grains, paper, pennies). It's just extremely hard for our brains to understand exponentials. No matter how smart you are nor if you just got the concept explained. Today we have Opus 4.6 but Opus 4.7 may as well be Deus summus omnium operum (Supreme God of all works)
