The new champion’s Improved Critical says “CAN” score a crit. Does this change the way the feature works or was it an oversight? Or am I overthinking this? Plz help.

@_Blackstorm In #dnd5e, a critical HIT is a hit. The fighter's Improved Critical doesn't say you CAN score one. It says you SCORE it.

@BigFrakingSword @Wizards_DnD @startplaying Im sure the 2024 DMG will have a guide for the new MM, but I haven’t heard anything about a conversion for the 2014 MM. I think it’d be better for the game if they released something like that sooner rather than later. If they plan to put that in the DMG they should announce it

@therealjoshT @Wizards_DnD @startplaying I wouldn't call it a nightmare. 2024 Players are generally more powerful, so adjust your encounters accordingly. For example, add Mastery Properties to your GM toolkit. Also, the DMG will be going over this. So are you requesting something sooner?

@BigFrakingSword @Wizards_DnD @startplaying It might not be a nightmare for experienced DMs, but for new groups and for the huge amount of people who didn’t know how to use the old CR system, it’s not a stretch to say that it will be very difficult for them to balance encounters while using old monsters and new PHB rules.
