Calling Dangote a monopoly threat makes sense; forcing imports to stop would give him total control over prices, and we all know how that could jack up costs if supply dips. Marketers are right to keep importing—it's competition that keeps things affordable while Dangote scales up. Look at now: he's slashing prices to ₦699/litre to outcompete imports, and it's working—importers are hurting. Let the market sort it out. If his fuel is cheaper and better, imports will die naturally. No need to protect one player and risk shortages for Nigerians.

Marketers want to keep importing petrol. Dangote wants importation to stop. Instead of accusing Dangote of wanting to create a monopoly, why can't they also join hands to build one refinery to compete with Dangote?
