As much as I respect Nikolas Draper Ivey’s and Denys Cowan’s opinions on how Virgil would look, I really don’t like him being super drippy in his casual form. I’m more a fan of Static being Vergil at his most free and expressive, kinda like how Superman is Clark’s outward expression. Like when he’s Static, he’s fly as hell. Arguably the ‘coolest’ looking superhero ever. The long coat that mimics a cape, the locks, the white tee with the logo, the fresh sneakers. He’s the living embodiment of cool that really no other hero can naturally channel. But this element of ultimate expression is watered down when he looks like he belongs on a models magazine every time we see him.

For all the reasons you listed in the previous post and the fact that Static is not reallyabout his race like Icon and Hardwre are, I agree Frieda as endgame works way better.

Daisy is the ideal love interest, both in the cartoon and the comics. She’s the one to have genuine interest in Virgil and stand up for him while he’s too busy pining over Freida who’s either dating someone else or straight up isn’t interested. Freida only becomes interested in Virgil once he’s dating Daisy, and one of the worst things Dwayne Mcduffie did was reward this by having them be endgame in the future. Reducing Daisy into yet another disposable black girlfriend. Daisy’s more sweet and humble yet still responsible sense of self is a nice contrast to Virgil’s more extroverted and cocky demeanor, grounding the character more in a very compelling way. That and they have a shared interests in science and culture. …….plus, it would just be very nice to see a black superhero in a permanent healthy relationship with another black character. We don’t really have… any of those rn😭
