Netherlands, before covid My first time abroad I didn’t have any euros in me On my first day at work, at 5pm, Michelle shows up at my work desk “You’re the new guy. Welcome to Rotterdam!” Then tells me it’s 5pm. People here don’t work overtime. “Let’s go have dinner!” So I pack my laptop and off we go Witte de withstraat. Probably the most popular street in Rotterdam We have a sumptuous meal. I tell her I do not have any Euros in me as I forgot to convert. She tells me not to worry and, hear this.. She was wearing a thick sweater for a cold she had never felt. We forced ourselves to eat a dry meat pie in silence. I kept giving her advice about buying a winter coat just to stop myself from begging her to stay. When her flight to London was called, she hugged me at the door and whispered that she loved me. I could not say it back because it felt like a promise we could no longer keep, so I just told her to walk inside and not look back. I went back to our empty table and watched her flight board. We did not cheat and we did not fight. A system that does not care about love just decided our story was over.

I haven't been on twitter today - but someone brought a few of my old tweets to my attention and I can't not address it. 14 years ago, I was 23, so I was definitely not a child. I'm not here to make excuses because I don't have anything to make excuses for. What I can't let anyone do is twist my story to fit false narratives. In 2012, I lived and helped out at my mom's daycare while I was hustling my music. I tweeted everything that happened in my life, as we all did at the time. Kids can be mischievous. If a child did something I found funny, I tweeted about it. Kids are cute and lovable. I want to hug, kiss and cuddle them. I tweet about it. Nothing I tweeted was from perversion. I was not famous, so maybe if I was, I would have understood that anything is open to whatever interpretation including being used falsely by a faceless mob. I've never been depraved in my life. You can retweet all the tweets in the world about me loudly crushing on people I admire/d. Or being a cheeky young woman. I wasn't trying to hide it, because I don't have anything to hide. My team has been deleting some of my tweets because of how sensitive it is for my family. To be honest, I did not want to. I have always spoken against rape and sexual assault even before you knew I existed. It's not a costume I'm wearing, it's who I am. I've never claimed to be perfect. I've never claimed to know everything. I said stop raping women. I stand by it.

The Home Office sent an email to my workplace regarding an applicant visa process because he was joining the organisation newly from another company. The home office requested 3 months payslip, contracts etc I simply replied “ The applicant is moving as a skilled worker from his former employer to our organisation hence doesn’t need to have worked 3 months “ Thank you…. 2 days later , applicant notified that his visa has been granted. Apparently, some people in the home office don’t even know the immigration process, laws or rules. That made me imagine how many people might have been affected for such lapses when the people making visa decisions don’t even understand it. This is for anyone who might be going through similar situations, please advise your HR and employer to simply reply with the right message that moving from skilled worker needs to another employer don’t require 3 months work evidence.
