I have always used people’s preferred pronouns and names, and treated people how they’ve signaled they want to be treated, and believe this is common decency. Plenty of people are fine with adult trans people but just don’t want it advertised to children, which can end up manifesting as a method of rebellion against their parents or an outlet for feeling like you “don’t fit in”. You can have both these opinions
