Assam | A shocking incident has been reported from Roodraksh Mall in Guwahati, where a newly wed man was found de*d inside the premise. The deceased has been identified as Sidhant Das, an engineering graduate who was a businessman belonging from Sonapur, who had reportedly married just a month ago. According to initial information, he had come to the mall to attend a party on the 7th floor at a bar. Sidhant had first gone home with his wife and later returned alone to attend the gathering. During the party, Siddhanta reportedly f*ll from the 7th floor to the 4th floor. He was rushed to the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) but he was declared de*d. Police have reached the spot and a preliminary investigation is currently underway to ascertain the cause of de*th. Officials are examining CCTV footage and questioning people present. 🚨BIG: Pawan Khera submits ‘mismatched’ Aadhar Card, Telangana HC Reserves Order on his Transit Anticipatory Bail Plea; 👇: Read more The Telangana High Court on Thursday reserved its order on Congress leader Pawan Khera's plea for transit anticipatory bail in connection with an FIR registered by Assam Police. Khera, chairperson of the All India Congress Committee’s media and publicity department, filed the petition before Justice K Sujana seeking protection from arrest. The case stems from an FIR lodged at Guwahati Crime Branch Police Station on April 5, 2026, accusing him of defamation, forgery, cheating, criminal intimidation and conspiracy. The allegations relate to Khera’s public claims that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, holds multiple foreign passports and undeclared overseas assets. All of them have been found to be forged. During the hearing, Assam Advocate General Devajit Saikia drew the court’s attention to a discrepancy in the Aadhaar card copy submitted with Khera’s petition. The front side carried Khera’s details while the reverse side corresponded to his wife, Kota Neelima. The court noted the mismatch and reserved its verdict, expected on Friday. Khera’s counsel, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, argued the FIR was politically motivated. Assam Police had earlier visited Khera’s Delhi residence and sought Telangana Police assistance to trace him. As per official statistics, 65.62% of candidates cleared the examination, with girls (63.96%) slightly outperforming boys (67.78%). A total of 2,81,701 students passed, including 85,189 in first division. Among districts, Dima Hasao recorded the highest pass percentage at 88.23%, followed by Sivasagar and Dibrugarh, while Cachar reported the lowest at 49.13%. In the merit list, Jyotirmay Das from Bajali secured the top rank, followed by Akanksha Bhuyan, Jia Farah Islam, and Surjit Akhtar. The board also announced that applications for re-checking will begin from April 13, while compartment exams for eligible students are scheduled for May. Notably, more than 4.38 lakh students appeared this year; one of the highest in recent years.
