@LouSirr101 Hyppolite's book on the Phenom. is fantastic. I would also recommend Houlgate's book on the opening of the Logic. Philosophy of Right isn't as hard going, but the second chapter of Rose's Hegel Contra Sociology could be useful for a condensed account of his legal-politcal theory.

@thewastedworld In fairness Hegel never finished his book either lmao.
I've got Hyppolite after those.
I'm going to read his logic and the right, too will I need supplementary stuff for this too do you think?
I read Pinkards Book on German idealism which was one of the best Philo books imo

The latest on Hegel's Preface to the Phenomenology -- this time turning to his polemic against Schelling and the debate over metaphysical first principles. Whew!

@LouSirr101 Pinkard's book is very solid! That definitely makes sense -- Schelling was notorious for being an precocious youth who never finished the systems that he outlined. Still very worth paying serious attention to, of course!

@thewastedworld I'm reading Pinkards book on Hegel before reading Phenom. Find it fascinating, my cursory knowledge of Schelling makes me think he is a bit of an intelligent simpleton if that makes any sense

Being a pictures-of-books guy was the most fun I had on this website. The area rug was good too

an eerie fact: no reading is possible without some "expectations about what we read"
