Ходорковский и евродепутаты не поняли друг друга. Несмотря на эту речь, Юкнявичене перешла к перечислению преступлений Красной армии в нынешней Калининградской области во времена ВОВ, подавлению литовской культуры в царские времена и подчеркнула, что россияне должны осознать свою историю. Тем самым Юкнявичене проигнорировала тезис Ходорковского о непонимании Европой российского общества. «Я не очень поняла вас насчёт вступления НАТО – а какая альтернатива? У нас нет стратегической глубины», – уже напрямую ответила Юкнявичене Ходорковскому. «Вам нужно дистанцироваться от идеологии русского мира. Полностью», – резюмировала она.
