A drunk policeman shot me at a checkpoint in 2011. The bullet tore through my car, through my right hand. I lost my career as an animator. My marriage cracked. My mind still bleeds. The twist? I sued the Nigeria Police. Won in 2015. Judge said: "Pay his medical bills." 10 years later. Zero naira. I face permanent disability without help. @PoliceNG_CRU @TunjiDisu1 @UNDP @NhrcNigeria #NigeriaPoliceNotYourFriend

When we said the way we lost Kosofe to Obi has insider job, Shey una don see. Ogbara no get street cred. Ogbara naaa nepo rep. Ogbara does not resonate with an average Kosofe people. Who sabi Ogbara for Ajegunle? Who sabi Ogbara for Owode? Who sabi Ogbara for Maidan? Who sabi Ogbara for Alapere? Who sabi Ogbara for Ikosi? Who sabi Ogbara for Ogudu or Ojota? Ogbara failed to provide leadership in the run up to 2023 presidential election. Ogbara is a liability to Kosofe. Mayor is a grass root politician. We see Mayor. We have access and he talk to us directly. Ogbara see us in Kosofe as a serfs. She does not see herself as a subject of the people. Pride too much. If they override or give her the ticket. Gbogbo wa la ma se anti-party. We will not vote another party ooo. But we will not come out and vote. Make Moyo go deliver kosofe naaaa. Who sabi Moyo sef. People wey small pikin for street no sabi them.

The Yoruba Aroko system is a coded non-verbal communication where objects are packed together to pass secret messages between individuals, families and communities. Cowries, leaves, brooms, calabash etc. Yoruba people invented encrypted messaging centuries before the internet.

Yoruba has over 25 distinct dialects spoken across Nigeria, Benin and Togo. Oyo, Ekiti, Ijebu, Ijesa, Egba, Ondo. Each dialect is a civilization within a civilization. The language did not just spread. It branched, adapted and survived. That is not a language. That is a root.

In Yoruba thought, Àárọ̀ is not just morning. It is a spiritual reset where yesterday’s failures have no jurisdiction. Yoruba elders do not just say good morning. They declare it. Ẹ káàárọ̀ is an acknowledgment that you survived and that today is entirely new territory.

The Ifa divination system was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2008. It is a complete philosophical and scientific framework covering medicine, astronomy, ethics and governance. The Yoruba did not just have religion. They had a system of knowledge.

The Sango festival was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2023. Yoruba now has four UNESCO recognised cultural heritage sites. Ifa divination, Gelede, Osun Osogbo and Sango. No other ethnic group in Nigeria is even close to that number. Somebody shout Oodua

Oyo Empire levied tribute from kingdoms as far as modern day Ghana & controlld major trade routes across West Africa. It had a standing cavalry, a constitutional monarchy and a foreign policy. It was a regional superpower. It just was not European so it did not make the textbooks

Ayodele Fayose, Oshokomole 1 of Yorubaland, is the only Nigerian politician to defeat an incumbent governor twice. Fayose defeated Governors Adeniyi Adebayo (in 2003) and Kayode Fayemi (in 2014) of Ekiti State. Fayose is also the only impeached governor in Nigeria to be reelected as governor. #HistoryVille Photo Credit: Premium Times/NAN

Pictured is the grandson of the Alaafin of Oyo, who became a military officer, nobleman and one of the most important abolitionist figures in Brazil and who personally met with the Emperor of Brazil 125 times. Alaafin Abiodun, who reigned between 1770 and 1789, brought relative stability to the civil war-prone Oyo Empire. Even as peace set in, wars erupted again, and his son was captured in battle, sold into slavery and transported to Bahia, Brazil. In Brazil and with the help of the Yoruba community in Brazil, the prince (now called Dom Obá I) quickly purchased his freedom, married and had children, one of whom was Cândido da Fonseca Galvão (1845-1890), also known as Dom Obá II. True to his ancestry, Dom Obá II enlisted in the Paraguayan War in 1865, only returning after he was wounded. Subsequently, he became a major campaigner against slavery and was received as an African Prince by the monarchy. His death, on July 8, 1890, was reported by most newspapers, which remarked upon his tremendous popularity and followership. #HistoryVille

Looking at Baba Adedibu, u won't believe he spoke better English than Peter Obi 😂. He is not only a better orator, he was more intelligent. He just has his weird way of doing things. Funny enough, he always spoke Yoruba home & abroad unless it was necessary to speak English. Something else I loved about him was his unwillingness to wear suit or foreign wears even when it was very cold. Sincerely, when i heard him speak English, I was wondering if another voice was been played cuz we were told that he was just a thug. MKO was eternally grateful for taking him to the late Gen Yar'Adua to negotiate an alliance with Atiku for the 1993 SDP primaries. He told Gen Yar'Adua bluntly- 'we both know Atiku can't win & Kingibe doesn't have the funds'. Like our fathers say- 'Omo buburu ni ojo ti e'. Enjoy below video 😂. 'He gave me 275k only! @JideTide_
