@scotgov @JohnSwinney I can’t have post cancer mammogram because there is no mammographer, current wait time for URGENT referral to Breast clinic in Tayside is 10 weeks. The last significant sum to Tayside NHS went on another tier of junior management. Unacceptable. I’d like answers please

Deplorable. This will not end well for the people in power who allowed this to happen.

My Dad is dead. He died suddenly at home, alone, whilst I was on holiday. 18 months after Mum died. 12 months after my breast cancer came back My heart is broken. Again. I wasn’t ready for him to leave me so soon. Even though I have a wonderful brother, husband and in-laws. I feel desperately alone. I hadn’t got round to talking to Dad about his funeral plans. The songs he’d want me to play. The stories I’d yet to hear. Please don’t leave it until it’s too late.

@michaeljmarra As a breast cancer patient in Tayside I don’t find it acceptable to wait 10 weeks for a mammogram result and for the breast screening programme it’s 14 weeks. Millions wasted by the Scottish government on failed projects and Gaelic signage while people are dying .

£54m of cuts at NHS Tayside. The First Minister failed to offer any comfort to the 3000 people whose operations will be cancelled. Choosing cuts to breast cancer screening will cost lives. Our NHS is in crisis. Those who caused it can’t fix it. Time for change.

@HairyBikers Sad news indeed. Sincere condolences to you and to Dave’s nearest and dearest. You both brought the public on one helluva ride around the country and beyond, with your warmth, humour and culinary skills. Memories to cherish.

Hi everyone, I’m afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own. Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya. I know Dave and his family would want me to thank all of you who sent messages of support in recent times. It meant the world to him, his family and all The Hairy Bikers team. I am sending you all much love and gratitude for those simple acts of kindness, generosity and spirit. We are eternally grateful for them. May I ask you all for one further kindness and allow Lili, his wife, his family, close friends and I some time and some peace to process our huge loss. I am sure I will see you all soon. Love Si x
