My cousin married an Australian guy about 6 years ago. They live in Sydney and had a daughter right after getting married. They assumed she'd have a mix of their accents, leaning mostly Australian since she'd go to school there. That's not what happened at all. Instead, she switches accents randomly by word. One second she'll say "Mum, I'm proper tired" in full Australian, then immediately yell "YO DAD CAN I GET SOME JUICE??" in perfect American. Every FaceTime call is chaos. Last week she asked for "brekkie" then called cookies "cookies" instead of "biscuits." My cousin sends me videos constantly and I lose it every single time listening to this kid talk.
