Shocked by @LvivJournal's tweets which threaten violence and promote hate against pro-Russian civilians, including 2 named women and 3 named children, in #Kherson and #Melitopol. This is despicable.

I spent 3 full days trying to photograph bees around the cherry blossoms. They are fast and aren't easy to catch. This is one of my favourites.

Well, it finally happened. After over five years of generating revenue for Patreon, they've banned our account for "presenting an elevated risk." They "can't share specific details" and their "decision is final". We never expected to last this long, to be honest. A popular, independent, crowd-funded media project run by actual Russians -- the whole premise is preposterous. Our continued survival always felt like a glitch, an oversight on somebody's part. We used Patreon because it was convenient and because everyone knows about it; not because we harboured any illusions about its hospitality. Its track record on free speech speaks for itself. We always ran parallel channels for exactly this reason. I've never been much of an entrepreneur. I really do lack the salesman genes. But I've always been proud of what we built with RWA -- something people genuinely appreciate, something with real-world value. Call me naive, but I always saw it as a way to cut through the media fog, to bypass the propaganda bubbles and just talk to the world directly. That's the part that mattered, and still does. What can one say about the manner of execution? A form letter with no signature or explanation, no possibility of appeal, not even the courtesy of an accusation; one recognizes the style. When you get rugpulled like this, what is left is what's actually yours -- the work, the voice, the people who chose to listen: those are not stored on anyone's servers.  We're not giving up. Русские не сдаются, as you've certainly heard. We're relaunching on Substack -- subscriptions are live, all podcast episodes will be hosted there, and we're getting back to longform writing. The road goes on. RWA is only getting stronger.

I don’t think people appreciate what’s about to happen. It’s going to be worse than a nuclear holocaust even if no nuclear weapons are used. If anything if it goes full counter value and the population is reduced, life will be better for the survivors than what is coming.

@RWApodcast What you're saying about this war being bad for Iran makes sense. But do they have a choice? Can a ceasefire last? Next time war breaks out will they have less of an advantage than they do now and get broken, worse than Syria? As much as Iran gets wrecked, what choice have they?

Ouch. There are what, a dozen, maybe fifteen countries in the world that have end-to-end integrated steel economies and meaningful steel exports? Decades of painstaking industrialization under severe sanctions, wiped out in a day. Iran will definitely be a much poorer country when this is over, no matter the outcome. People who think that Iran is categorically opposed to a ceasefire should keep this in mind; this is nothing like, e.g. Russia/Ukraine, where only Kiev would benefit from a ceasefire. A lot of people on here are imagining some apocalyptic war until the last drop of blood, but the Iranians have every incentive not to drag this out if there's a possible deal to be made. Of course, destroying Iran's ability to function as an industrial economy is one of the main US/Israeli goals -- one step closer to becoming a non-entity like Syria is now.
