@jemelehill This is the worst definition of "face of the league" I've ever heard.

I appreciate the nuance in your opinion, but there is a difference between popularity, appeal and being the face of the league. Caitlin Clark is the most popular player in the WNBA, and the biggest draw. She’s not the face because she’s not creating a new standard for winning (yet). She does not have accomplishments that people want to take (yet). What team is everyone trying to beat? The Aces. What player is everyone trying to match? A’ja Wilson. The standard for winning is A’ja. Michael Jordan became the face of the NBA because he became the standard by which every player is measured. Everyone wanted to stop him. Caitlin isn’t there.
Robert Griffin III@RGIII

Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA. She just had a 45 POINT 10 ASSISTS DOUBLE DOUBLE with 4 steals, 2 blocks and 2 rebounds. Shot 11/18 from the field and 6/10 from 3 point range in 29 minutes with a +16 +/-. Other players have scored more points this year and in years pasts, but most of all, IT WAS EXCITING. That’s why the fans love watching her play. Her style is just different than what they are used to seeing. Caitlin Clark is UNDOUBTEDLY the most popular player in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark is a record breaking great player on and off the court. There is no denying that. Caitlin Clark has helped bring record breaking viewership, crowds and money with her to the WNBA. The issue in the WNBA right now amongst the players is that when you say someone is the “FACE OF THE WNBA” every competitive player will only conceded that designation to a player that they believe as earned it with their play on the court. The “Face of the WNBA” to the players and former players is A’Ja Wilson. She is respected as such by her peers because she is the best player in the WNBA, the only 4 time WNBA MVP and has won 3 WNBA Championships. The Face of the WNBA to the fans is Caitlin Clark. She is the player that excites the masses the most with her play style and has broken numerous WNBA records in her first 3 season. And there lies the disconnect. Michael Jordan was the face of the NBA before he won a Championship, but it came with extreme push back from the rest of the league in how they guarded him and treated him. LeBron James was the face of the NBA before he won a Championship, but it came with extreme push back from the rest of the league in how they guarded him and treated him. When players feel like they are being overshadowed by a player they feel doesn’t have the accolades to warrant it, they fight it. They don’t respect it. But there is a difference between being the face of the WNBA and being the best player in the WNBA. Definition of Face of the any professional league, “Title given to the league's most recognizable, marketable, and impactful player at any given time.” The fans have spoken on this matter, but many players and former players won’t like it because the gap in the accomplishments between A’Ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark is massive. Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA before she has won a championship and it has come with extreme push back from the players in the way she is guarded and treated. Just like Michael Jordan and LeBron James were. Will Caitlin Clark ever become the best player in the WNBA? She can. She has the ability to. But right now, she is the WNBA’s most recognizable player. That’s not disrespectful to the other great players in the WNBA, it’s the reality of where the WNBA was before and after Caitlin Clark showed up. Regardless, it’s okay to celebrate the greatness of all the WNBA’s great players without turning it into a race war. For the players, for the fans, for the WNBA and for the kids watching, this has to stop.

The fact that 'The Matrix' actually got made is a literally miracle. Will Smith turned it down for Wild Wild West. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio all passed on playing Neo. Warner Bros offered to rewrite Neo as a woman just to get Sandra Bullock on board. Execs had absolutely no clue what 'living in a machine' meant. In the end, The Matrix chose Keanu Reeves.

@DezBryant There's a disconnect between "face of the league". It's purely CC 1000% only her. A'ja is the best player 1000% only her. The two don't mean the same. No one is packing arenas for miles. Not now, not ever

I love CC as well..but she needs to be more consistent…You know and I know ..as true competitors, we do not pat ourselves on the back whenever you go out and do what we are supposed to do… Everybody is talking about CC and A’ja the Face…but Olivia Miles could mess around and become the face of the WNBA… I’m just saying..

@TraeyzX It's crazy someone can suggest work 100 hrs a week as a doctor for 3 years so flippantly. If she's "burnt out" from just school - what makes you think she can work nonstop for 3 years straight.

Caller: I am a medical doctor with $540,000 in student loan debt. I have no other debt, my car is paid off, and I don't own a home. I gross $180,000, but my take-home pay is only $108,000. Dave Ramsey: That's not right. It's mathematically incorrect. You do not have a 50% tax rate. Caller: My contract says $180,000 and when I add up what's in my bank account, it adds up to $108,000. So far my tax refund is only $6,000. Dave Ramsey: If you aren't contributing to a 401(k) or having other deductions, you need to sit down with a tax pro because something is not adding up. What field are you in? Caller: Primary care. I'm looking into picking up extra hours, but I took two years off before for burnout, so I'm being very careful about how much I work. Dave Ramsey: Honey, you just got out of school, you ain't burnt out! You have over $500,000 in debt. We don't even need to be worrying about you burning out; you're flaming out! You need to get your butt in gear, work 100 hours a week, make $300 grand, and clean this mess up in about three years. You need to be in panic mode. You just walked into my office with stage 4 financial cancer and you're questioning the intensity of chemo. This requires a radical treatment plan! Otherwise, you're going to have this debt the rest of your life. This isn't a pet; this is a curse. If you live on nothing, the math is simple: You put $100,000 a year toward it, it's done in five years. You put $150,000 toward it, it's done in three and a half years. You put $200,000 toward it, it's done in three years. Live on $30,000 or $40,000 and don't buy stuff like a doctor because you're a bankrupt, broke doctor.

We made an honest mistake yesterday and we are sincerely sorry for that. When we welcomed the Watt family to America First Field, we should have recognized Kealia Watt for exactly who she is. Kealia is a Utah native and one of the most decorated players to ever come out of this state. Kealia won four state championships with her club and four more in high school, and was a two-time Utah Gatorade Athlete of the Year. She was a U.S. youth national teamer at 13. At the U-20 level, she scored the game-winning goal in the World Cup final. She started four years at North Carolina, won a national title with the Tar Heels, then went No. 2 overall in the NWSL draft to the Houston Dash, and was the franchise’s first-ever college pick. She then became their captain with 114 appearances and 28 goals. Kealia finished her career with the Chicago Stars (then known as the Red Stars) and is now a soccer analyst for Amazon Prime Video. @KealiaOhai, @JJWatt — we are deeply sorry. Thank you for all you do for the sport.

@espnW I'm sorry but these athletes, actors, celebrities have a different "depression" than the masses. We can't disappear for 1 to 3 months to "fix ourselves". We need to work to support ourselves. Mega wealthy people don't experience depression like the rest. There are outliers though

Lou Williams tells story of when he found out the Clippers were trading his rookie SGA, for Paul George: “In our game you want your young star to be coachable, a worker, one of the guys, the toughest, smartest, SGA was all of those things. When that trade happened for Paul George, I swear to god.. when he called me, the first thing I asked him was ‘was Shai in the trade?’ That was the first thing I asked him. Because that’s how much I believed in him as a rookie. He was one of the first rookies that I was one the team with that I said ‘hey that boy going to be a star.’” (Via @undergrndlounge)

I’ve always conducted myself as a professional with sacrosanct respect, but I have to get something off of my chest: Right now, at this very moment, we don’t know the true status of Senator Mitch McConnell’s health (we wish him well) & then we find out that Senator Lindsey Graham died from a “brief and sudden illness” after traveling to Ukraine & Turkey. What the heck does that even mean? A “brief and sudden illness” really turns my stomach because if our Senate/gov’t cant be honest about the health of its colleagues, then how can we even believe them about the deaths of its colleagues?

The most amazingly horrible experience with @Delta today… 6 of us… Arrive in Atlanta for a connecting to Miami. Were supposed to be in Miami at 11:20 We are not. 1st, they just cancel it. Fine. It happens. Then we get booked on a 4:00 flight, which we get bumped from to be on standby for 2 other flights… both in different concourses. We do not get seats on either of those and end up back at the 4:00 flight which was now 5:00. We get a message saying they have seats for us on a flight leaving in 17 minutes… in another concourse. I tell the guy we won’t make it. He says, “I’ll call them. Hurry!” So we’re booking thru the airport and get there. They gave our seats away. So we asked, “didn’t he call?” They said yes. I’m livid at this point. They put 5 more standbys on then tell us they have 3 seats left if we want them. I said, “but they called you and we got here just in time. Why didn’t you just tell them for us to not bother?” They give us $144 in vouchers for items in the airport. Not a single one of the voucher bar codes work. Now the 4:00 flight has been pushed back to 7:00. We bought our tickets last December. There have been five flights to Miami since we got here and @delta hasn’t been able to get on a single one of them. It’s much worse, btw. But that’s the day in a PG nutshell. The whole idea of flying has become a total joke. I’ve been on three trips in 3 months and one didn’t happen because they flat out just dropped the flight at 1:00 after we sat there for 7 hours of delays. The other got me to my connecting flight but it had already boarded and I had to buy another ticket. The service industry has become a joke that’s on us.

This girl is cruising down the highway in her stick shift, windows down, wind in her hair, belting out songs while she shifts gears without missing a beat. She looks genuinely happy and in control. Most people these days never learn how to drive manual. It takes real timing and coordination to get the clutch and gas right, especially when you’re just trying to have fun and sing along. Seeing her do it so naturally makes you realize how much of that skill is disappearing. Do you think driving stick is becoming a lost art, or do you still think it’s worth teaching people even if almost every new car is automatic?
