@BellaWallerstei I think this approach is undermining to the case against VAT on fees. I’ve worked in the ind school sector for 20 years (10 as a head). If ind schools consistently spend more than they earn they risk going under.

Another private school has announced it is closing down. Labour’s school tax is the greatest act of educational vandalism in our lifetimes. These schools will never come back.

"One parent removed their child for September and had to wait a whole term before they were placed in a state school, and she was in the middle of her GCSEs."

@PaulGarvey4 @ISC_schools You’ve boiled down to 3 crying laughing emojis. Is this now a battle for who has the last word?
English

@PaulGarvey4 @ISC_schools Sod off? 😂 I doubt you’d keep the same energy about you in person - you’re a keyboard warrior my man.
If it’s just about VAT then why write the 2nd part of your tweet? You’re a troll.
BTW where do you think my kids go to school?
English

@thomas_tal @ISC_schools Oh sod off with your ‘Glee’. 🙄 I’m just glad that Labour have imposed VAT so private schools will be subject to the same taxes as everyone else in business.
Every parent considering a a private school has more than *every* single parent in the school I worked with today.
Fact.

@PaulGarvey4 @ISC_schools You should go into politics, you’re great at deflecting. I don’t care which party you support, Paul. It’s obvious you like this policy. What I don’t get is you revelling in the negative human impact. Ai can probably write a SEF but I won’t send you laughing emojis. SDPs next 😉
English

@thomas_tal @ISC_schools Which political party do you think I support, Adrian? You seem very knowledgeable about that. 😂😂
English

@PaulGarvey4 @ISC_schools You support this particular political policy and I respect your right to do that. I’m not starting a debate about the nuances of tax law and what is fair or not about taxation. I’m referring to your glee around the upsetting outcomes of this policy for kids and school staff.
English

@thomas_tal @ISC_schools You know my politics? 😀 This is not about politics, but fairness.
I have no sympathy. It is personal parent choice and private schools should pay their taxes like any other business, then parents should pay their fees if they wish to send their pupils.
Charity status next. 😉
English

@PaulGarvey4 @ISC_schools I can respect your politics but cannot understand why you as a teacher take such glee from a situation where children could be displaced from a school they love and people may lose jobs.
Ps VAT is a tax on the consumer not on a business.
English

@ISC_schools He could have allowed them to stay until they had secured a place before they had to leave, but that would eat into profits, wouldn’t it?
Pay your taxes like every other business has to. Private schools deserve no special privileges.
Charity status next. 😉

@rorysutherland I’ve spent almost 40 years trying not to look daft by avoiding asking stupid questions. Where has this book been all my life? Diolch 🙏

English

@thepaulwilliams This is the content that keeps me coming back to twitter. Premier sports subscription complete and I’m armed with a strong rebuttal for when the wife steams in with an objection. Diolch!

@TheGMcConnachie At last, a proper opinion on Afterlife that I can use in my case against it. The only chance of it being halfway decent would’ve been as a one off Netflix paint by numbers film. To have made it to a series with more than one season astounds me.
English

@MikeBubbins @toryboypierce My mum taught 40yrs in the state sector. I’m a headteacher in the ind sector in Wales. Love my job, work with amazing families. We’re not Eton and they’re not oligarchs. I have 4 kids, 3 in school (2 in state and 1 on a scholarship in ind). VAT policy won’t fix state sector.
English

@Jessg85 @onlyher08591011 @MichaelRosenYes Well if one school isn't entirely representative of the full cohort I'll be astonished. Perhaps they give piano lessons which childrens parents pay for in addition to the fees and need a teacher who oversees this. Perhaps extra curricular choice is one of the attractions.
