The “45% sales drop because everyone hates Elon” is FUD for gullible people. They are comparing sales data for just one month — January. This is never a good way to look at Tesla sales. You want to look at the quarterly numbers to get an accurate picture and filter out the noise of various logistics issues and product changeovers. For example, they are introducing a new Model Y in March. Many old Y or 3 buyers will want the new Y. Furthermore as Troy points out on his Patreon “January 2024 was an exceptionally strong month for Tesla. In fact all of Q1 2024 was unusually strong in Europe. The main reason was that some government incentives ended in late 2023 but customers could still qualify if they took delivery later as long as they placed their orders before the deadline. So Tesla delivered lots of cars in January and February 2024 that were ordered in December 2023” These kinds of differences, and things like a ship arriving one month vs the other can make a huge difference in monthly numbers. Please note furthermore that January sales in Europe last year was 18,161 cars vs 9,945 cars this year. That “45% decline” is only a difference of 8,000 units — about 1.5% of Tesla’s Q4 2024 deliveries, or 0.4% of 2024 deliveries. This is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of 2025 sales, despite the media dramatizing it in order to attack Elon. Those expecting Tesla’s global sales to fall 45%, even with the introduction of the new Model Y, will be sorely disappointed!
