ערוץ 12 ישדר הערב ראיון עם נכדו האחר של מפקד אושוויץ, רודולף הס - הכומר קאי הס, עם הרבה רעש וצלצולים, למרות שקאי כבר רואיין על ידי לפני כשש שנים.
לפני 15 שנים שידר ערוץ 12 בערב יום השואה, המצויין בישראל, את הסרט ״ילדי היטלר״, שבו מתועדת נסיעה שנייה שלי ושל אחיו של קאי, ריינר, לאושוויץ. בימאי הסרט הזה התעלם לחלוטין ממידע שהעברתי לו על הבעייתיות הרבה של ריינר ועל כך שנראה היה שהוא עושה לעצמו שם והכנסה עם ההיסטוריה המשפחתית הארורה שלו. בין היתר, העלים הבימאי את המידע שריינר הס ביקש למכור ל״יד ושם״ חפצים אישיים של סבו, ולמרות שהיו בידי מסמכים שהוכיחו זאת, הוא העדיף להאמין לריינר שטען שאני שיקרתי בעניין.
אחרי שידור הסרט הזה התחיל לזרום אליי מידע שריינר הוא בעל עבר פלילי עשיר, שמנצל את ההיסטוריה המשפחתית שלו כדי להוציא מאנשים סכומי כסף גדולים עם הבטחות שהם יושקעו בכל מיני פרוייקטים ל״מאבק בניאו נאצים״ או להפצת הסרט, שלא היה לו כל חלק בהפקתו, בניגוד לטענותיו. גם ממידע זה בימאי הסרט התעלם. ריינר הס התגלה כפושע ושקרן סדרתי שניצל את זכרון השואה באופן ציני ביותר לצרכיו. למיטב ידיעתי, ערוץ 12 לא שידר עד היום כל כתבה על פרשת ריינר הס, לא כל שכן התנצלות על שהעניקו לו במה אותה הוא ניצל לצרכיו הנפשעים.
במשך שנים חיפשתי את אחיו של ריינר, קאי, כדי שיסייע לחשוף את סיפורו האמיתי של אחיו, ללא הצלחה. בסופו של דבר היה זה קאי שמצא אותי, לאחר ששוכנע ע״י חברי קהילתו שהוא צריך לשים קץ למעלליו של אחיו. רצה הגורל ובסמיכות מקרים פנה אלי גם קורבן נוסף של ריינר, שבניגוד לאחרים החליט למצות את הדין עם הפושע הזה וכך אפשר לנו גם לחשוף מידע על עברו הפלילי של ריינר.
בלינק המצורף תוכלו לקרוא את הכתבה שפורסמה בעקבות המשפט שנערך לריינר בגרמניה, בכלל זה גם ראיון ראשון עם אחיו, קאי.
לא ברור מדוע התקשורת הישראלית והבינלאומית נמנעה מלחשוף את סיפורה הבעייתי המלא של משפחת הס וממשיכה להתמקד בהצגת ״מאבק הנכדים בנאציזם״. קאי מאוד שונה מאחיו. היפוך מוחלט. הוא איש מאמין וערכי ובחר ללכת בדרך אחרת מזו של אחיו ולהקדיש את חייו לכלל. ועדיין, הוא החליט להתמודד פומבית עם עברה של משפחתו, רק לאחר שהסכין להתעמת פומבית עם הסיפור הנפשע של אחיו.
הצורך הכפייתי להציג את המציאות רק בטעם מתקתק בכל הנוגע להתמודדותם של גרמנים ואחרים עם השואה הוא תופעה חולנית. אומללות נפשית. של אנשים בתוכנו.

This week's events were incredibly moving. First event was held at the town hall of Rignano sull’Arno. This was close to the villa where the Einstein family was murdered in 1944. each year the community commemorates what happened and holds the story close. Second event at Firenze synagogue with survivors of the Holocaust, hearing directly from eye witnesses. Third event in Prato speaking to high school students about the history of WW2 in Italy. A huge honour to meet with people who have lived this story and to discuss my book about the Einstein murders.
